A “Bada Bing” Boardwalk for the Montreux Jazz Festival 2013

BADA

Swiss firm Bureau A incorporates the Montreux Jazz Festival’s aesthetic of light and glamour into a series of glowing neon boardwalks along the water’s edge in Lake Geneva in Switzerland. As the festival has been home to many legendary jazz and rock concerts, the project’s neon signs reinterpret the character Tony Soprano’s “bada bing” and an 80’s logotype aesthetic into installations that not only represent the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip, but also pay homage to a number of important artists from the 60’s onward. Illuminated typography on each of the boardwalks is supported by a freestanding segmental arch structure—used as a framing device so as to capture the romantic views of the lake and Alps.
